
Lindab is a major European manufacturer and distributor in the construction industry, with a product portfolio that includes both air building solutions, roof, facade and eaves systems and, last but not least, steel profiles for building construction. The company turned to us for help to develop a suitable distribution model to meet its future needs.
We found the optimal distribution model in terms of operating costs and customer service.
First, we analysed the existing distribution network and estimated future demand. We then created several distribution model scenarios that differed not only in the location of the distribution nodes but also in their function. These were modelled and verified using our proprietary distribution strategy software. With the Lindab team, we evaluated each scenario and found the one that was optimal in terms of minimizing operating costs and maximizing customer service levels. This result is an important basis in the investment feasibility study, which is used to guide management’s strategic decision-making about the company’s future.
