The increase in the complexity of new models and the increase in flexibility were the main motivating factors for the construction of a new automated warehouse for small parts (AKL) at Volkswagen Slovakia, a.s. This was to bring the previously used external warehouse, which was no longer suitable in terms of capacity, closer to the production. Thanks to our know-how in the field of automation, we helped to not only defend the business case, but also to completely transfer the entire solution proposal into practice.

As part of the technology selection process, we were responsible for preparing the technical specification, managing the tender and recommending the optimal supplier. During the implementation phase, we successfully guided the client from planning, through installation and testing of the automated technology, to commissioning. All within the planned time and budget. The resulting warehouse has a volume of 170 k KLT and the automated technology used consists of a unique system of 88 shuttles and lifts. This system, controlled by sophisticated software, allows for the creation of a complex sequence of KLTs according to the requirements of production logistics. When compared to similar technology, a greener operation is undoubtedly another advantage.
